News - Worldscreen - LGI Scoops Up Dinosaur Doc 03/05/2009
VICTORIA: Australian-based distributor Looking Glass International (LGI) has picked up the worldwide terrestrial distribution rights to the one-hour documentary Secrets of the Dinosaur Mummy, a Discovery Channel Canada commission.
The special, broadcast on Discovery in both Canada and the U.S. in September, focuses on the a 77-million-year-old dinosaur mummy found in 2000 by a team of amateur paleontologists. Named Leonardo, the dinosaur mummy was the first found with intact digestive tract contents, providing scientists with information on these creatures lived. "Not only is the find a groundbreaking discovery for mankind, the high quality of the production, state-of-the-art CGI combined with a 'cold case' detective-like story makes this documentary appeal to audiences of all ages," said Nha-Uyen Chau, the director of LGI. "We can understand why it was the top-rated program in North America when it premiered! We are honored to be working with the documentary's talented producers Midcanada Entertainment and Myth Merchant Films and look forward to launching it officially at MIPTV."
