making pandas ( 1 x 60' )

The iconic Giant Panda is on the brink. With only 1600 left in the wild, pressures on their natural habitat and a notoriously small window for reproduction are edging them towards extinction - fast.

For the first time ever attempted in the tropics, they are going to breed a pair of pandas. Over 1 year, we go behind-the- scenes and follow the incredible work of a dedicated group of zookeepers and vets as they race to get Singapore’s famed Panda couple..., Kai Kai and Jia Jia , to fall in ‘love’.

But it’s not just endangered Giant Pandas that urgently need to reproduce. As part of a larger conservation effort, hundreds of critically endangered animals at the Singapore Wildlife Reserve have been earmarked for breeding. From elephants and orangutans to rare rhinos and endangered tigers, we follow the veterinarians in their daily rush from one end of the park to the other to respond to animals that have begun mating and some very unexpected births.

We join the team raising the IUCN endangered baby anteater rejected by her mother, we see the amazing moment of birth by a Pangolin and we see the struggles to hand raise a mana- tee and its release into the main tank with the adults of the species. But convincing panda pair Kai Kai and JIa Jia to reproduce will be the team’s biggest test.
