This documentary examines the symbolic relationship between the local fishing communities and their environment. The Setiu wetlands of northeast Terengganu are under continuous threat from rapid local and global development at a time when modern fishing technologies, the depletion of fish stocks around the world and the demise of traditional fisher folk are changing our relationship with the sea forever.
Set against the backdrop of one of the last pristine coastal wetlands in Malaysia, Fish Listeners of Setiu Lagoons prom- ises to reveal secrets of a time past, which may teach us a thing or two about living with nature for the future.
