Boob Tube tackles the thorny issue of obscenity on American TV by flashing back to what was once the most controversial show on television: The Ugly George Hour of Truth, Sex and Violence, a public access show that featured videographer George Urban roaming the streets of New York in the days of Studio 54 to videotape young women exposing themselves in 'dimly lit hallways'. In the late 70's and 80's, 'Ugly' was tossed off the air five times by Time Warner Cable for 'gratuitous' sex, mild by today's standards on outlet's like HBO. George, a flamboyant New York personality who was widely despised and also widely watched, claims that his show put cable TV on the map. His pursuit of 'D Cups' foreshadowed the obsession with breasts on TV culminating in the incident involving Janet Jackson and today’s 'Girl's Gone Wild' videos. Ugly George is now planning a comeback!
